The normalized Laplacian of a graph was introduced by F.R.K. Chung and has been studied extensively over the last decade. In this paper, we introduce the notion of the normalized Laplacian of signed graphs and extend some fundamental concepts of the normalized Laplacian from graphs to signed graphs.

Let G^s be a signed graph, where G = (V;E) is the underlying simple graph and s : E(G) to {+, -} is the sign function on E(G). In this paper, we obtain k-th signed spectral moment and k-th signed Laplacian spectral moment of Gs together with coefficients of their signed characteristic polynomial and signed Laplacian characteristic polynomial are calculated.

Abstract. A signed graph Γ = (G, σ) consists of an unsigned graph G = (V, E) and a mapping σ : E → {+,−}. Let Γ be a connected signed graph and L(Γ),L(Γ) be its Laplacian matrix and normalized Laplacian matrix, respectively. Suppose μ1 ≥ · · · ≥ μn−1 ≥ μn ≥ 0 and λ1 ≥ · · · ≥ λn−1 ≥ λn ≥ 0 are the Laplacian eigenvalues and the normalized Laplacian eigenvalues of Γ, respectively. In this paper, ...

A signed graph is a graph where the edges are assigned either positive ornegative signs. Net degree of a signed graph is the dierence between the number ofpositive and negative edges incident with a vertex. It is said to be net-regular if all itsvertices have the same net-degree. Laplacian energy of a signed graph is defined asε(L(Σ)) =|γ_1-(2m)/n|+...+|γ_n-(2m)/n| where γ_1,...,γ_n are the ei...

Classical spectral clustering is based on a spectral decomposition of a graph Laplacian, obtained from a graph adjacency matrix representing positive graph edge weights describing similarities of graph vertices. In signed graphs, the graph edge weights can be negative to describe disparities of graph vertices, for example, negative correlations in the data. Negative weights lead to possible neg...

We consider the normalized Laplacian matrix for signed graphs and derive interlacing results for its spectrum. In particular, we investigate the effects of several basic graph operations, such as edge removal and addition and vertex contraction, on the Laplacian eigenvalues. We also study vertex replication, whereby a vertex in the graph is duplicated together with its neighboring relations. Th...

This is a survey of the method of graph cuts and its applications to graph clustering of weighted unsigned and signed graphs. I provide a fairly thorough treatment of the method of normalized graph cuts, a deeply original method due to Shi and Malik, including complete proofs. I also cover briefly the method of ratio cuts, and show how it can be viewed as a special case of normalized cuts. I in...

We extend the resistance distance kernel to the domain of signed dissimilarity values, and show how it can be applied to collaborative rating prediction. The resistance distance is a graph kernel inspired by electrical network models where edges of a graph are interpreted as electrical resistances. We model the similarity between users of a large collaborative rating database using this signed ...

A signed graph is a whose edges are labeled either positive or negative. Corresponding to the two distance matrices defined for graphs, we define laplacian matrices. We characterize balance in graphs using these and find spectra of some classes unbalanced graphs.
